The Academy for Educational Development and Innovation (AEDI) at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) is pleased to announce the East Meets West: Chinese Value-Based Leadership in Education Conference 2026, to be held in Hong Kong on 9 and 10 February 2026.

This conference invites scholars, practitioners, and enthusiasts from around the world to engage in discussions on the following themes:

  • Harmonizing Traditional Values in the Age of Globalization: Balancing cultural heritage with modern advancements, educational leaders integrate Confucian values—morality, respect, education—into contemporary practices. The challenge lies in preserving identity while fostering creativity and critical thinking, adapting to global influences, and meeting academic and societal demands in a rapidly changing world.
  • Strategies for Leadership in Organizational Transformation: Effective leadership in organizational change requires vision, adaptability, and innovation. Leaders balance traditional values, like Confucian morality and respect, with modern management emphasizing creativity and inclusivity. Addressing academic pressures, digital transformation, and global competition, they harmonize heritage with contemporary strategies for sustainable progress.
  • Balancing Innovation with Tradition in Chinese Organizations: Chinese organizations blend innovation with traditional values to maintain identity and drive progress. Educational leaders integrate Confucian principles with technology, global perspectives, and creativity-focused teaching. This approach fosters disciplined yet innovative environments, meeting the demands of AI, global competition, and critical thinking.
  • The Role of Technology in Promoting Values-Based Approaches: Technology supports values-based approaches by preserving and sharing cultural heritage through digital tools. Educational technologies integrate traditional values into modern curricula, ensuring cultural continuity amid innovation. The challenge is to balance technological advancement with ethical principles, making technology a bridge between tradition and modernity.
