Introduction

Life education fosters students’ holistic development by promoting self care, care for others, and environmental stewardship. It equips students with adaptive skills to pursue flourishing lives and contribute to a harmonious society. Recently, the need to strengthen life education has intensified in light of increasing youth suicide rates. Importantly, life education helps students understand, appreciate, and explore life, enabling them to navigate adversity with resilience and optimism. Notably, mindfulness has increasingly been applied as an effective method for promoting positive life values and attitudes among students. By helping students develop stress management and coping skills, mindfulness supports life education in building the resilience needed to thrive during challenges. Together, these approaches promote holistic well-being.

The programme aims to provide students with comprehensive knowledge of life education, enabling them to use mindfulness concepts and practices to enhance positive life values and attitudes in educational and community settings. The programme will introduce the theoretical foundations and real-world practices of life education, helping educators, school administrators, youth service providers, parents, and other stakeholders promote the positive life values and attitudes of young people. Throughout the programme, students will learn to integrate the science and application of life education, applying theories and principles to address real-life issues innovatively and sensibly in various contexts. Students will also learn to use mindfulness to promote clarity of values and to build life skills that enable them to navigate challenges, manage stress, and regulate emotions, fostering the resilience needed to thrive in difficult circumstances. Graduates will possess the knowledge and skills necessary to engage in life education, promote positive life values and attitudes, and enhance well-being for individuals, schools, and communities.
