Introduction

The Master of Arts in Healthy Ageing and Silver Economy programme aims to equip students with interdisciplinary knowledge and practical competencies to address the challenges and opportunities arising from rapid population ageing in a global context. Grounded in the concepts of healthy ageing and the silver economy, the programme seeks to prepare professionals who can enhance the well-being, participation, and productivity of older adults while contributing to sustainable economic and social development.

Specifically, the programme integrates perspectives from gerontology, public health, psychology, social policy, economics, service design, and business innovation to enable students to understand ageing not merely as a social challenge, but as a driver of innovation and opportunity. Through a balanced combination of theoretical foundations, applied research methods, and practice-oriented learning, students will be trained to design, evaluate, and implement age-friendly policies, services, products, and community initiatives.

The programme also aims to cultivate ethical responsibility, social sensitivity, and innovative thinking among students, enabling them to respond to diverse ageing contexts across cultural, regional, and international settings. Graduates of the programme will be well-positioned to contribute to policy development, service management, social innovation, and industry practices related to healthy ageing and the silver economy.

  • Individuals interested in pursuing careers in ageing-related fields, including recent graduates and career switchers who wish to equip themselves with interdisciplinary knowledge to contribute to the well-being of ageing populations.
