Introduction
The Master of Arts in Chinese Art Business and Cultural Heritage Management programme is designed to equip students and professionals with dual expertise, combining Chinese art business knowledge with museum management skills to meet the growing demand for professionals in art commerce and museum management in Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong, China, Contributes to the development of China's cultural industry and to foster cultural confidence and the development of Hong Kong, China as a premier hub for high-end art transactions.
Programme Aims and Objectives
- To integrate comprehensive professional knowledge of Chinese art business and cultural heritage management, applying it to careers in the art business or museum administration.
- To assess the daily operations of Chinese art commerce and models of cultural heritage management, proposing strategies for optimisation and development.
- To evaluate relevant laws, professional ethics, and cultural policies related to art commerce, addressing ethical issues within art business or museum management.
- To apply emerging technologies in China’s cultural industry and art commerce sector to create innovative IP products or enhance organisational operating models.
- To demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills to make well-founded judgments and handle complex professional issues.
- To cultivate professional talents suited for careers in museums, art commercial institutions, and related cultural sectors.
Target Participants
The programme is designed for a diverse range of students:
- Recent Graduates: individuals with undergraduate degrees in business administration are interested in museums or the art business, or students who have previously studied Chinese art and wish to enter the field of art management or commerce.
- Working Professionals: employees in museums or the art business sector looking to upskill or reskill to stay competitive in rapidly evolving industries.
- Artists: Calligraphers, painters, or other people engaged in artistic work.
Programme Intended Learning Outcomes
- Integrate professional knowledge in Chinese artworks collections and appreciation.
- Equipped with digital technology application capability, utilise emerging technologies within the cultural industry and the art commercial market in China.
- Equipped with intercultural communication competence, evaluate the development trends of both the Chinese and global art markets.
- Analyse and implement the operational models of museums and art institutions, integrating skills in daily management and organising art-related activities.
- Evaluate and comply with the policies, laws, and professional ethics related to cultural assets.
Programme Structure
The Master of Arts in Chinese Art Business and Cultural Heritage Management programme is a 24-credit-point (cps) programme comprising six core courses and two elective courses. Each course carries three cps.

- Individuals who wish to apply for qualification certification in Chinese Mainland after graduation should contact the CSCSE (website: https://www.cscse.edu.cn/) directly for updated details and confirmation. The certification in Chinese Mainland is an independent process from the conferral of academic qualification in Hong Kong, China by the University. For the avoidance of doubt, no warranties are given in respect of individual graduate’s qualification certification or recognition in Chinese Mainland or any other professional qualification or license outside Hong Kong, China.
- EdUHK, has not collaborated with any agency in Chinese Mainland or Hong Kong, China on admission, and does not encourage students to entrust their applications to any third-party agents and we always contact applicants directly on updates regarding the applications. You must complete and submit your own application via the EdUHK online admissions system and provide your own personal and contact details. Please refer to the official EdUHK channels, such as programme websites and the admissions system, for the required information to complete your application.
- Students who are enrolled in any full-time award-bearing programmes (lasting for one year or longer) of the University are not permitted to simultaneously register for another qualification at the University or a post-secondary qualification at any institutions except with prior approval by the Board of Graduate Studies. Violation of this regulation will lead to discontinuation of studies from the University. In case of doubt, students should seek advice from the Board of Graduate Studies (via the Graduate School).

Tuition Fees
$181,500 per annum (24 credit points)
Fees subject to adjustment. The University reserves the right to make changes to tuition fee without prior notice. Tuition fees paid are normally not refundable or transferable. Extension fees will be charged to students who have to extend their studies beyond the normative period of study.
General Admission Requirements
- Applicants should normally hold a recognised bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably with relevant working experience (such as engaged in artistic creation or those with administrative experience in museums, auction houses, or calligraphy and painting galleries).
- Applicants who are new graduates and have excellent academic performance may also be considered.
- Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview.
