Introduction

The integration of science and engineering education represents the new frontier in pedagogical development. Traditional science education often focuses on theoretical knowledge acquisition, while engineering education emphasizes practical problem-solving. The programme bridges this divide by creating a holistic approach that combines rigorous scientific inquiry with hands-on engineering applications through robotics. This synergy aligns perfectly with the modern understanding that future-ready scientists need engineering competencies, and engineers require deep scientific literacy. The robotics component serves as the perfect medium for this integration, providing tangible platforms for applying scientific principles to real-world challenges.

The Master of Arts in Science and Robotics Education [MA(SRE)] aims to equip educators, curriculum designers, and STEM professionals with advanced interdisciplinary expertise in science and robotics education. The programme fosters leadership in transforming K-12 classrooms through innovative pedagogical strategies, cutting-edge technologies, and research-driven practices. By bridging theory and hands-on application, the MA(SRE) programme prepares graduates to address global demands for STEM talent, cultivate future-ready skills in learners, and advance equity in science and robotics education across diverse educational and community contexts.

Programme Intended Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the programme, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate mastery of foundational and emerging concepts in science and robotics education, including inquiry-based learning, engineering design processes, and computational thinking frameworks aligned with STEM curriculum standards
  2. Design, implement, and assess inclusive science and robotics curricula that cater to diverse learners, leveraging adaptive technologies, differentiated instruction, and culturally responsive pedagogies
  3. Apply advanced programming (e.g., Python, Blockly) and robotics skills (e.g., sensor integration, AI applications) to create hands-on learning experiences that foster problem-solving, creativity, and collaborative skills in students
  4. Critically assess the ethical, societal, and pedagogical implications of robotics and AI in education, including issues of accessibility, bias in technology, and responsible innovation in classroom implementations
