This Course supports senior teachers preparing for promotion to leadership roles such as PGM, SEO, and SPSM. Recognised as fulfilling the Elective Part of the Education Bureau’s enhanced training requirements for promotion, the course targets serving SGMs, PSMs, and experienced teachers. Through lectures, workshops, and school visits, the course builds participants’ capabilities in school management, leadership, mentoring, and collegial support. Topics include school administration, curriculum leadership, student support, educational policy, and legal issues in schools. The course also promotes personal reflection, innovation, and engagement with contemporary developments, such as AI in education and cultural diversity. With contributions from EdUHK academics, experienced principals, and sector leaders, the programme fosters strategic thinking and cross-school networking, equipping future school administrators to lead effectively and respond to the evolving needs of Hong Kong’s education system.

Professional Development Programme for Newly-appointed PrincipalsProfessional Development Programme for Newly-appointed Principals
- The programme is a comprehensive leadership training initiative commissioned by the Education Bureau and delivered by EdUHK in the 2024/25 school year. As part of the second year of the mandatory two-year training for newly-appointed principals (NAPs) in government, aided, caput, and DSS schools, the programme aims to strengthen leadership capabilities from a global perspective. Key components include a structured course on leadership and management strategies, leadership forums with experienced leaders, and visits to business and NGO sectors to explore cross-sector leadership practices. These experiences enable NAPs to draw real-world insights for application in school settings. The programme concludes with a reflective debriefing session, where participants collaborate in group presentations to consolidate learning and discuss implications for school development. Through interactive and practice-based learning, the programme equips NAPs to become visionary and effective leaders, contributing to sustainable school improvement across Hong Kong.

Courses on Physical and Mental Health for Teachers
- Commissioned by the Education Bureau, the Courses on Physical and Mental Health for Teachers were delivered in the 2023/24 school year. Designed to promote teacher well-being and enhance work capacity, the programme offered a variety of targeted workshops. Participants could pursue certification through the Pastel Nagomi Art Associate Instructor Course, accredited by the Japan Pastel Hope Art Association, using art creation to foster relaxation and emotional balance. Expressive arts therapy workshops provided a safe space for self-exploration and personal growth, addressing issues such as stress, anxiety, and grief through creative expression. Yoga workshops emphasised stress management, resilience, and mindfulness practices to support both physical and mental well-being. An additional online yoga course offered techniques such as breathing exercises and posture awareness to help participants integrate wellness practices into daily life. The programme holistically supported teachers’ emotional, mental, and physical health.

Programme for Leadership Enhancement for Serving Vice-Principals
- The programme is designed to strengthen the leadership capacity of experienced vice-principals in Hong Kong’s Government, Aided, Caput, and DSS schools. Commissioned by the Education Bureau and delivered by the Education University of Hong Kong, the programme bridges theory and practice through two key components. Participants are first attached to a business or NGO for 3–4 days, gaining first-hand insight into leadership in non-educational settings. Structured courses support reflection on leadership theories such as innovation, strategic leadership, and change management. In the second component, participants share their learning and application plans with peers through presentations and receive professional feedback. This innovative model encourages cross-sector perspectives, enhances leadership confidence, and supports the development of visionary and ethical leaders ready to drive school improvement. The programme concludes with a sector-wide open sharing session to disseminate impactful practices.
