The conference attracted more than 80 scholars from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Italy, Germany, Japan, Poland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Singapore, South Korea, and other countries and regions.
The conference featured keynote speeches by six distinguished scholars: Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, President of EdUHK; Professor Wang Bo, Vice President of Peking University; Professor Tiziana Lippiello, President of Università Ca' Foscari Venezia; Professor Brook A. Ziporyn, Professor at the University of Chicago; Professor Ishii Tsuyoshi, Professor at The University of Tokyo; and Professor Simon Marginson, Professor at the University of Oxford.
The topics spanned ancient and modern times, from Chinese to global perspectives, exploring Chinese traditional wisdom and contemporary value concepts. Key themes included the educational implications of Taoism, the Four Books (classic Confucian texts) and the philosophy of Wang Yangming; the philosophy of symbiosis; a comparative analysis of Plotinus and Wang Bi; and students' self-formation.
In addition to the keynote addresses, the event featured four Distinguished Panel Forums, joined by 18 scholars from EdUHK, as well as other local, mainland and overseas universities, who shared their research. The event also included 16 sessions focused on paper presentations, with diverse scholars sharing their inspirational research papers respectively.
The conference provided scholars with an academic platform that bridged past and present, integrated Eastern and Western perspectives, and fostered the exchange and collision of ideas. It enriched the academic community's reflection and practice on sustainable development, fairness and justice, and the pursuit of a peaceful world.
